Local Storage
Settings, keys and usage counters stay in the browser's local storage.
This technical guide explains what stays in the browser, what goes to a Provider or to Subify's servers, and how API keys are handled.

Provider keys are stored only in the extension's local settings and used only for direct requests to that service.
Text and audio needed for a feature go only to the selected Provider. Word meanings come from api.dictionaryapi.dev, and only the word is sent. The translation cache of each video is also sent to Subify's servers. Signed-in members also sync vocabulary cards and send support tickets (see the FAQ).
If you are signed in to Subify and have not saved your own AI key, subtitle translation and the chat, writing and practice features are answered with the Subify owner's key on our server.
These rules apply only to signed-in accounts.
In Advanced Settings you can delete all local extension data. This cannot be undone. It does not delete data already stored on Subify's servers.
See these pages for a fuller understanding of Subify's data and security policies.
