Common questions about installation, translation, dubbing, Providers and exports

Install the extension for Chrome or Firefox from the download page. Then choose a Provider and enter your own API key. The quick-start guide shows each step.
Subify translates existing subtitles. If a video has none, Live Captions can turn its speech into on-screen text as it plays, in supported workflows.
First set your Provider and target language, then turn on dubbing in the extension settings. Tab audio is sent only to the Provider you chose.
SRT and VTT are both timed subtitle files. SRT is simple and widely supported. VTT is designed for web players and can set caption position and style. TXT contains only the text, without timings.
If you want a service that isn't built in, you can add an OpenAI-compatible API with your own address and model. The browser asks permission for that one domain only, and your key is sent only to that address.
The result depends on the Provider and model you chose, the quality of the original subtitles and the speech in the video. Each video's translation is saved in your browser, so watching it again doesn't cost another API call. AI output can still contain mistakes.
